FISHER/UNITECH Acquires SolidVision

Combined Resources will Provide Broader Product Portfolio, Increased Service and Support for Customers throughout the New England States.

FISHER/UNITECH, an information technology software and hardware provider, announces its acquisition of SolidVision, a Boston-based SolidWorks® reseller serving the discrete manufacturing industry in New England. SolidWorks software provides best-in-class tools for product design, validation, technical communications and data management. With a combined staff of nearly 100 employees, including 30 technical personnel, FISHER/UNITECH will provide SolidVision customers with immediate access to unprecedented service, support and training options. A more comprehensive solution set, namely Aras Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software that complements SolidWorks Enterprise PDM functionality, will be available.

“The SolidVision staff of SolidWorks professionals complements our recent entry into New England and provides a very competent team that will enable the combined organizations to deliver superior solutions and services to this market,” said Charles Hess, President and CEO of FISHER/UNITECH. “We intend to invest in additional resources to enable our long term success in this market. The leadership team that joins us as a result of this acquisition has extensive experience and talent in our industry. We are very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”

“Joining forces with FISHER/UNITECH is an important step in SolidVision’s history of continually finding better ways to serve the SolidWorks and broader engineering community in New England,” said Tim Sheehan, co-owner of SolidVision.

“We can now offer our customers a wider product range and deeper technical and training capabilities,” said Mark Sears, co-owner of SolidVision. “Our mission remains the same, to help our customers increase their productivity and decrease their engineering cycle times.”

Customers will have access to toll free phone, email and online support utilizing FISHER/UNITECH’s SupportExpress platform. SupportExpress provides customers with online case logging and tracking, “virtual advisor” for remote technical support sessions, SELive chat functionality for online troubleshooting, Knowledge Base access, and invitations to attend Power Users Clinics, Support Hour webcasts, Night School and Update Training Seminars. SupportExpress also provides online bill paying and transaction history, an online catalog with secure shopping cart functionality and access to the Support Hour webcast archive.

Another important customer advantage is access to FISHER/UNITECH’s 3DU online education system. 3DU offers customers the option to take SolidWorks courses online via an interactive environment, delivering unparalleled convenience and flexibility. FISHER/UNITECH is the only SolidWorks reseller to offer a learning management system (LMS) that ensures education objectives for each and every student are achieved.

FISHER/UNITECH will retain local sales, marketing and support personnel in Littleton, MA, providing full educational facilities. Combined with existing offices in Milford, CT, and North Kingstown, RI, the company now has three training centers in New England, with an additional 11 located in the Midwest United States. Since 1993, FISHER/UNITECH has grown to support a customer base of over 8,000 companies and 15,000 users in 16 states.
