During Euromold KISTERS will present the brand new version 11 of the 3D ViewStation. The KISTERS 3D ViewStation is known for high performance 3D-viewing, current and mature CAD-importers plus a reasonable set of functional tools to view, analyze and communicate 3D-data. Many customers appreciate the extremely short load-times of the KISTERS 3D ViewStation. As an example, on an average notebook a 600 Megabyte Pro/Engineer assembly will load in only 3 seconds using the internal file-format and will load in only 2 minutes reading the native file-format. Or a 5.5 Gigabyte (!) Catia V5 assembly will load in only 5 seconds using the internal file-format and will load in only 5 minutes reading the native file-format. But besides performance it is important to continuously keep the CAD-importers current. The KISTERS 3D ViewStation proofs this i.e. by supporting Catia V6, Creo 1.0, NX 7.5, JT 9.5 and STEP AP 242, just to name a few. Besides standard view and analysis functions like measurements and sections the 3D ViewStation provides a compare feature, undercut analysis, explodes and exports, i.e. into STEP and 3D-PDF (both U3D and PRC-flavours). The new version 11 of the KISTERS 3D ViewStation is a reaction to the markets demand: as assemblies tend to grow more and more for the first time KISTERS now provides a 32-bit and 64-bit product-version, breaking the current memory barrier. The modern user-interface complies with Office 2010 and has become much more intuitive.
Besides the demand for a classic desktop-product typically PLM-users need a viewing-component, which can be seamlessly be integrated into the user-interface of their PLM-system. The new KISTERS 3D ViewStation now provides a 32-bit and 64-bit ActiveX-component. An integration i.e. into SAP has already been done. For the first time this component allows to display mixed native 3D-CAD data like Catia or NX and neutral data like JT, 3D-PDF or STEP in a window controlled by the PLM-system. This is how KISTERS understands Multi-CAD DMU. It is possible to load complete assemblies as well as parts or sub-assemblies, position them via API and replace some of them by i.e. other versions during runtime. By clicking on a part a contextual navigation might be activated, i.e. to display meta-data, to display related business documents, or to query the inventory or latest purchase pricing. In many business processes this approach allows to present related information, documents, cad-data depending on the user’s role in the company, accelerating the processes and increasing their quality.
