Epicor redefines local enterprise business software market with Epicor 9

Epicor Software Corporation today announces the launch of its next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution Epicor 9 in India. Epicor 9 redefines the local enterprise business software market by offering an innovative and flexible solution that has been built on a technologically advanced infrastructure.

A brand new approach to ERP software

Leveraging more than 25 years of experience designing and implementing ERP solutions, Epicor introduces a new approach to the way ERP systems are designed, built and used. With Web 2.0 concepts to provide users a truly collaborative and dynamic enterprise business application experience, Epicor delivers an adaptable business architecture that satisfies the needs of any enterprise regardless of country, industry, or access device, enabling business anywhere — business without barriers.

Today, more than 400 customers worldwide are live on Epicor 9, with a further 1,500 projects in process. Epicor 9 has been shipped to more than 2,100 businesses in 60 countries, including shipments to more than 900 new customers. Manufacturers, distributors, financial institutions, service firms and retailers globally enjoy its ease of use, ability to adapt to business and industry-specific requirements, scale as an organization expands or changes, and ultimately grows. Epicor 9 is positioned as a Visionary in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant (MQ) for ERP for Product-Centric Midmarket Companies.

“We have a distinguished track record of delivering the latest, flexible technologies at a low total cost of ownership to thousands of companies worldwide,” said Scott Hays, director, product marketing for Epicor. “Epicor’s next-generation ERP solution is now available here in India, and is designed for the way people work today, in dynamic and fast-changing environments.”

Hays continued, “As we begin to emerge from the economic challenges of the past two years, we’re seeing a conservative ‘maximize efficiencies, minimize expenses’ philosophy in the markets we serve. Our release is designed to enable customers to target these often competing mandates allowing them to focus on areas of opportunity, helping them to quickly realize tangible and sustainable results in their business on the road to recovery. Quite simply, we believe it is the right release for the right time in the market.”

Modern ERP that offers flexibility, usability, and agility

Epicor’s enterprise business solution is built on a second-generation service-oriented architecture (SOA), Epicor Internet Component Environment (ICE) 2.0. The backbone of Epicor’s next-generation ERP solutions, Epicor ICE, fuses Web 2.0 technologies with Epicor True SOA to deliver business architecture that offers new levels of flexibility, usability, and agility in support of application-to-application integration and business-to-business collaboration.

Expanding on modern consumer Web concepts introduced in Epicor 9, the new release offers Epicor Mobile Access, which allows business users to quickly and easily define and deploy mobile applications for conducting business on devices like BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and the Apple iPhone in a matter of minutes. In addition, Epicor Enterprise Search has been expanded to allow it to be invoked from almost anywhere, such as within Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint or Excel as well as from a Browser or within the application, delivering essential real-time information when it’s needed and where it’s needed.

Epicor 9 has received the Works with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 certifications. A long-standing Microsoft Gold Partner and the 2009 “Microsoft Partner of the Year for Global ISV Line of Business,” Epicor utilizes the latest in Microsoft’s leading-edge technologies to offer customers enhanced security, innovative user interface features and reliability enhancements.

What some customers say

Based in Finland, global manufacturer Fluid-Bag Ltd manufactures the most advanced flexible IBLC system for handling liquids and pastes. “Our strategy is to increase turnover and grow the business globally,” said Jan Backman, managing director for Fluid-Bag. “To support this growth we need better transparency and easy access to data from across the business. We currently use a mix of applications and databases for individual functions like accounting and production, but with Epicor in place we will gain a single system.” He added: “Out of the three systems we shortlisted, Epicor has the most modern interface. It looks fresh and it’s designed to be used in the modern work place, supporting the modern way of thinking and working. We don’t want to invest our money in old fashioned technology. In short, Epicor hits the bull’s eye for us. It has the right functionality, is easy to use, flexible enough so that we can make changes when needed, and it can grow with us.”

National Food Industries, a leading snack food manufacturer in the Middle East with well-known local brands such as Mr. Krisps, Emirates Pofaki, Mr. Pofak, Pufaki Abusaa, Bakeman's and Sindbad, selected Epicor to support steady growth and new business challenges. “The recent global calamities have put a big strain on the food industry and we are about to face a new business challenge: commodity shortages,” said Piyush Mahesh, director for National Food Industries. “We also have to cope with dynamic costings, and we operate in a very competitive industry. Despite this, the snack industry in particular has seen steady growth over the last few years and we anticipate that this will continue. To support that growth, help us be more competitive, and enable us to foresee and plan more effectively we decided to implement Epicor.”
