AUBURN HILLS, Mich - Dassault Systèmes, in partnership with Ford Motor Company, has announced that it has been recognized as a 2011 Automotive News PACE (Premiere Automotive Supplier’s Contribution to Excellence) Award Winner for the development of the Powertrain Digital Innovation and Automation (PDIA) process. Enabled by the integration capability and associativity of the company’s CATIA and SIMULIA digital solutions, PDIA automates an iterative analysis process to save time and effort while optimizing product quality and performance of powertrain solutions.
Ford’s Powertrain Digital Integration and Automation platform has the unique ability to integrate CAD geometry with CAE finite element analysis mesh and models. The CAE analysis model details are directly linked with CAD model details. Any changes in the CAD design are automatically propagated to the CAE analysis model and vice-versa, reducing the time for model creation and meshing from weeks to hours in some cases.

Winners were chosen following an extensive review by industry, academic and business leaders, including a comprehensive written application and site visit. The competition is open to suppliers that contribute products, processes, materials or services directly to manufacture cars or trucks.
