CATIA V6, ENOVIA V6, DELMIA and 3DVIA Composer Automate Nuclear Power Plant Construction Process.
MOSCOW – Dassault Systèmes today announced that the Russian Research and Design Institute for Energy Technologies (VNIPIET) has deployed CATIA V6, ENOVIA V6, DELMIA, and 3DVIA Composer to create an integrated enterprise PLM system. Dassault Systèmes’ V6 solutions will enable VNIPIET to optimize nuclear power plant construction processes, allowing comprehensive plant design and development collaboration by all participants, as well as integrating engineering documentation in the existing model.
VNIPIET is Russia’s leading enterprise in the industry. To remain competitive, the company embarked on a program to modernize its existing information systems. Dassault Systèmes experts used CATIA V6 to create a nuclear power unit infrastructure in 3D, DELMIA to optimize building and construction efforts, and ENOVIA V6 to create an integrated information platform. From here, VNIPIET used 3DVIA Composer to visually communicate the project details. This allowed stakeholders to explore the design’s BOM (Bill of Materials), take measurements, and create cross sections – all in 3D. And even before project details are finalized, 3DVIA Composer further enables the team to develop the necessary procedural documentation that would be necessary for power station operation and maintenance.
Successful implementation of Dassault Systèmes’ V6 solutions enabled the institute’s experts to create the complex design of nuclear and turbine frames for the Leningrad Nuclear Power Station #2, simulate specific processes such as large scale cargo transportation, loading and building lot use, the mounting of the fusion isolator, mounting pressure cover units of the nuclear island, as well as to create an integrated record of enterprise documentation.
“A project of this scope is very complex and the construction industry has very little experience deploying information systems of this magnitude. Happily, our experts were able to successfully collaborate with Dassault Systèmes personnel and leverage numerous PLM implementation best practices in construction and other industries where DS has primary leadership experience,” said Igor Smirnov, director general, VNIPIET. “We will definitely need some time to adjust and streamline all the processes for our own construction industry, but the essential part of the project has been successfully completed and we are quite satisfied with the results.”
“We frequently take part in large scale industrial projects and cooperate with leading enterprises within industry,” said Laurent Valroff, director general, Russia and CIS, Dassault Systèmes. “Dassault Systèmes adapts its considerable international experience to Russian projects, deploys leading technologies, thus helping to evolve the industry in accordance with global standards.”
