Tool Qualification Assessments Carried Out by TÜV SÜD Help Automotive Engineers Generate and Verify Production Code Deployed in High-Integrity Embedded Systems.
NATICK, Mass. - The MathWorks today announced that its Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder 5.3, PolySpace Client for C/C++ 7.0.1, and PolySpace Server for C/C++ 7.0.1 products are qualified according to the ISO/DIS 26262-8 standard. The TÜV SÜD qualification assessment provides evidence to automotive engineers using Model-Based Design with defined verification and validation measures that the tools are suitable for developing safety-related software for ISO 26262.
The qualification improves confidence in the correct execution of activities and tasks required by ISO 26262 defined Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) A through ASIL D. Each of the qualified tools has a certification report defining a set of verification and validation measures, which embedded system developers need to complete when using the tools to develop their high-integrity applications. Further support is provided through The MathWorks IEC Certification Kit product, which includes the certificates, certification reports, workflow documentation, and additional artifacts to document the ISO/DIS 26262-8 tool qualifications for the products listed above.

The scalable selection of these verification measures described in a verification and validation workflow document gives users the flexibility to integrate the qualified tools into a broad variety of software development processes while complying with the requirements of ISO/DIS 26262 up to and including ASIL D.”
As part of the tool qualification activity, TÜV SÜD has assessed the software development processes and customer bug reporting procedures at The MathWorks offices in Natick, Massachusetts, USA, and Grenoble, France, which develop the referenced tools.
