Last month, InnovMetric Software and the National Research Council of Canada were awarded the 2009 FPTT award for the successful development and transfer of 3D data analysis technologies that led to the commercialization of inspection methods based on three-dimensional measurements of real objects.
Established in 1998, the FPTT annual awards program reflects the best practices employed by individuals in the public and private sectors to develop techniques, services, and products that create jobs in Canada and new markets worldwide.
The integration of these technologies has allowed InnovMetric Software to accelerate the development and marketing of the PolyWorks® point-cloud-processing software suite. The synergy of the research and development relationship between the two partners is a textbook case of collaborative teamwork. Through a series of seven licensing agreements beginning in 1994, InnovMetric has rapidly become a world leader in the field of 3D data analysis technologies.
FPTT is an established network of federal public servants committed to working together to enhance their professional capacity and to ensure the expeditious transfer of the value created in federal laboratories.
NRC is the Government of Canada's leading resource for research, development, and technology-based innovation. NRC comprises some 20 institutes and national programs, spanning a wide variety of disciplines and offering a broad array of services. NRC-IIT is strengthening Canada's leadership in information and communications technologies by creating and commercializing software and systems technology to help Canada prosper in the knowledge economy.
