caCadence CEO Lip-Bu Tan Joins the EDA Consortium Board of Directors

SAN JOSE, Calif : The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Consortium announced today that it has appointed Cadence president and CEO Lip-Bu Tan to its board of directors to serve the organization through the spring of 2010.

"We are delighted to have Lip-Bu join our board of directors at this pivotal point in the organization's history," said EDA Consortium executive director, Robert Gardner. "With our connections to the semiconductor industry and the greater electronics design community becoming more vital than ever, it is critical that member companies of the EDA Consortium continue to come together to ensure that the collective needs of the industry are effectively represented." * John Bourgoin, EDA Consortium director, and president and CEO of MIPS Technologies, Inc.
* John Kibarian, EDA Consortium director, and president, CEO and co-founder of PDF Solutions, Inc.
* Rajeev Madhavan, EDA Consortium director, and chairman & CEO of Magma Design Automation, Inc.
* Chris Rowen, EDA Consortium director, and founder & CTO of Tensilica, Inc.
* Sanjay Srivastava, EDA Consortium director, and president and CEO of Denali Software, Inc.

Cadence has been an active member of the EDA Consortium since 1988 and its employees have led important EDA Consortium initiatives on topics such as export controls and software piracy. The appointment of Lip-Bu Tan marks the return of Cadence to the EDA Consortium board.

Lip-Bu Tan, 49, has been a member of Cadence's board of directors since 2004, and serves as a member of the finance and technology committees of the board. He continues to serve as chairman of Walden International, a venture capital firm he founded in 1987. Tan received an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of San Francisco, and a B.S. from Nanyang University in Singapore.
